Information Technology Specialist
_______________________________________________________
The position holder will provide technology support
for students, faculty, and staff, especially for
learning and academic purposes. He/She will also be
responsible for the configuration, deployment, and
management of IT
equipment and systems in computer labs, classrooms,
and offices.

The successful candidate should hold at least a
Bachelor’s degree in technology-related field, have
considerable knowledge of desktop hardware
and software and practical experience with support
tools and techniques such as hard-driving imaging,
printing management, server-based applications.

Academic Achievement Manager
_______________________________________________________
The Academic Achievement Manager shall be responsible
for a variety of administrative and managerial
operations to support the advising and student
achievement processes for the undergraduate students
at the American University of Sharjah. He/She will
analyze the current undergraduate advising system and
processes/procedures at all the colleges at AUS;
study the linkages between the undergraduate advising
system in the colleges and the office of the
Registrar; develop the process to coordinate the
Banner advising system, catalog linkage in regard to
prerequisites, and
various system related development issues to the
advising process; produce regular
report utilizing the Banner and Blackboard systems to
track student achievements on a regular basis;
coordinate with the colleges and the
Faculty Development Center to train faculty on the
effective utilization of the Blackboard and Banner
systems to report on student achievement;
create an effective student assistance program to help
academically challenged students achieve their maximum
academic potential at AUS; manage and coordinate the
team of Academic Achievement Officers in the Office of

the Dean of Undergraduate Studies; implement a
continuous improvement process to
continuously enhance the effectiveness of the
undergraduate registration
system, student monitoring, and academic achievement
processes; manage the
delivery of the standardized academic exams published
by ETS and other providers to AUS undergraduate
students.

The successful candidate should have a Master's degree
in a technical area with a preference in computer
science or MIS with a minimum of two years of
experience in advising systems/managing advisors or
equivalent combination of education and experience,
excellent computer skills on Banner,
Blackboard, and MS Office suite. Ability to perform
line coding as needed,
fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written) is
a must.

Administrative Assistant
_______________________________________________________
Manages supervisor’s calendar and independently
schedules appointments,
screens incoming calls and correspondence and responds
independently
when
possible prepares confidential, reports and
memorandums outlining and
explaining administrative procedures and policies to
staff and provides
follow up and feedback, coordinates and arranges
meetings, program,
events
or conferences, and assists supervisor in carrying out
or communicating
special programs. Monitors and directs recording of
department’s stock
issues, orders and maintain supplies and arranges for
equipment
maintenance.

The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s
degree in an
administrative discipline. 4 years experience as
administrative
secretary.
Computer literate, fluency in English is a must Arabic
is an asset.

Dormitory Supervisor
_______________________________________________________
Supervises the assigned Dormitory and ensures welfare
and safety of
residing
students and protection of University assets. In
addition, provides
counseling & guidance to dorm residents, receives
visitors, attends to
reception office at the dormitories, and ensures
implementation of
rules,
regulations and disciplinary code in the conduct of
students in the
dorm,
and maintains relevant files & records.

The successful candidate shall have a four-year degree
with a minimum
of 5
years relevant experience in the field. Computer
literate, proficient
in MS
Office Systems, fluency in English is a must & Arabic
is an asset.
Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Temporary part-time Assistant, Activities Coordinator
Assist with the administration of Extracurricular
activities,
follows-up on
students’ activities on campus, arrange special
counseling and
orientation
programs for freshmen students, helps in liaising with
the University
publications about its activities, assists in
obtaining discounts from
suppliers, vendors etc., and insures conformity with
university
regulations
and procedures, helps in the coverage and maintenance
of Student
Center,
helps in conducting training and development for
student organizations,
helps in maintenance of records and proper
communication with student
organizations, assist in liaising with student
employment on campus.
The successful candidate must have a bachelor degree,
excellent English
writing, communication, and administrative skills,
prior experience
with
administering extracurricular activities, excellent
knowledge of MS
word,
Banner, Access, Adobe, Quark express and other
software related to
extracurricular activities, flexibility and the
ability to work under
pressure and meet deadlines. Required to work for 20
hours per week.

Library Evening Supervisor
_______________________________________________________
The American University of Sharjah Library seeks a
responsible,
service-oriented individual to manage the library
facility during the
evening hours. This supervisor oversees all library
evening operations,
supervises circulation and collection maintenance
staff, and ensures
the
safety and security of the library environment.
Working closely with
the
Circulation Supervisor, the Evening Supervisor
promotes excellent
customer
service at the Circulation desk, coordinates shelving
operations, and
provides reference and research assistance at a
para-professional
level.
Must work effectively with a variety of constituencies
- students,
faculty
and staff – and deliver high quality services in a
continuously
changing
environment. The Evening Supervisor reports directly
to the Associate
University Librarian.

Position Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree or
equivalent from four-year
college or university, plus 1 year related experience.
Undergraduate or
graduate degree in Library Science preferred. Computer
Skills:
Knowledge of
Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft
Office Suite
required.

Processes and tracks requisitions for supplies,
services, and
equipment,
maintains updated vendor files & database and expands
vendor source,
work
closely with vendors and AUS departments, make sure
all orders are
received
in a timely fashion, write bid specifications and
appropriate vendor
lists.
Maintain documentation of systems application
procedures, changes and
enhancements; analyze process and procedures to
determine maximum
utilization, assist in developing systems materials,
assists department
management with intermediate and long-rang planning
for system need,
supervises and coordinates Buyer activities.

Successful candidate must have a Bachelor Degree in
Business
Administration,
Commerce, Computer Science or any related filed, with
minimum of 3
years of
related experience, Excellent communication,
interpersonal skills,
knowledge
of Access and Power Point is a must, good knowledge of
Excel
spreadsheet and
Word processing, knowledge of Brio is an advantage,
Inventory software,
order processing systems and Contact Management
systems. A high degree
of
proficiency in reading and writing in both English and
Arabic.

Project Coordinator
This position holder will assist in design and
supervise construction
and
other modifications of the physical environment to
support the growth
of the
University. Design supervision - provide design input
and review
consultant,
contractor, and vendor submittals. Project supervision
– quality
control of
design and coordination with supporting services
(roads, services, IT)
write
project briefs, create specifications, assist in
tender preparations
and
analysis.

The successful candidate should be an architect with
minimum of eight
years
of experience, excellent computer skills in Autocad,
Word, Excel,
Illustrator/Corell Draw, Photoshop, and MS Project or
Primavera.
Fluency in
English (spoken and written) is a must.

Mechanical Engineer

The position holder will lead a maintenance team,
provide design input
and
review of consultant and contractor submittals on new
construction and
renovations, provide quality control of MEP
construction and
renovation, and
write maintenance reports & project specifications.

The successful candidate should be a bachelor degree
holder of
Mechanical
Engineering with a minimum of eight years of
experience, excellent
computer
skills in Maximo, Word, Excel, MS Project or
Primavera, and Autocad.
Fluency
in English (spoken and written) is a must.
